The Congress of Folk Medicine in Vilar de Perdizes is celebrating its fortieth anniversary, marking four decades of existence. This special edition is dedicated to the memory of Father António Fontes, a central figure in the history of this event.

The congress's main objective is the preservation of ancestral knowledge related to traditional medicine practices. Natural therapies and Transmontane traditions constitute the fundamental pillars of the celebrations and discussions taking place at this event.

Vilar de Perdizes has become, over these 40 years, a reference point for the promotion and defense of folk medicine practices, collecting and transmitting knowledge that is part of the cultural heritage of the Trás-os-Montes region.
