Autonomy 'is not the property of any party'

Chega MP Francisco Gomes argued this Saturday that Madeiran autonomy does not belong to, nor can it be appropriated by, any partisan force. According to the parliamentarian, autonomy constitutes a political, historical and institutional heritage of all Madeirans, regardless of their political choices.

Francisco Gomes highlighted that autonomy should be used to effectively improve the life of the population of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The deputy emphasized the importance of promoting the economic and social development of the Region through this statute.

The parliamentarian also pointed out that autonomy should serve to guarantee responses to the problems of Madeiran citizens, reinforcing the role of this autonomous region within the Portuguese context.
