The Local Health Unit (ULS) of Aveiro has started using an innovative therapy for the treatment of bladder cancer. This new therapeutic approach represents a significant advance in the treatment options available to cancer patients at that health unit.
The implementation of this therapy was made possible thanks to the approval of funding by INFARMED, the national medicines authority in Portugal. Without this approval, the unit would not have the conditions to make this treatment available to its patients.
The arrival of this innovative therapy constitutes an important reinforcement in the response that ULS de Aveiro offers to users in the region. This health unit now has another tool in the fight against this oncological pathology.
Bladder cancer is a disease that affects a significant number of people, being the ninth most common type of cancer worldwide. The availability of this new therapy in Aveiro allows local patients to access more modern treatments without needing to travel to other hospital centers.
