Singer Péricles, nationally known for his sambas such as "Até que durou," "Final de tarde," and "Me apaixonei pela pessoa errada," performed on Thursday at the home of Roberto Medina, president and creator of Rock in Rio, in Barra da Tijuca, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. On this occasion, he showed another side of his work, reimagining Motown classics in English.

Among the songs performed were "Cruisin'" by Smokey Robinson, "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder, and "My girl" by the Temptations. Péricles was accompanied by pianist Maurício Piassarollo on the piano that Medina bought in 1980 for Frank Sinatra's show at Maracanã.

The same instrument was used years later by conductor Eduardo Souto Neto to compose the official theme of Rock in Rio. The performance served as a preview of the full show that Péricles will perform on the 7th at the Sunset Stage of the festival.
