Companies embed finance and bring retail and credit closer together

oglobo29 August 2026 at 02:07

The expansion of digital financial services is transforming companies that previously only operated as merchants or service providers. Businesses from different sectors are incorporating credit, cards, installment plans, and other financial solutions into their relationship with customers, bringing retail, services, and technology closer to the financial system.

The theme was highlighted at FEBRABAN TECH 2026, an event held between August 24 and 26, at the Anhembi District, in São Paulo, SP. Among the event tracks, there was a discussion about "embedded finance and cross-sectoral convergence," in a scenario where technology expands the capacity of non-financial companies to offer financial services within their own consumer journeys.

The transformation occurs in parallel with the acceleration of the financial system's digitalization. The budget of Brazilian banks for technology should reach R$50.4 billion, indicating the حجم dos investimentos do setor financeiro em inovação.

Receita Federal separates the wheat from the chaff in fighting fraud

Brazil's Federal Revenue Service, in partnership with the Federal Police and the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office, has intensified the repression of consulting firms that commercialize false tax credits, having dismantled, through Operations Títulos Podres, Obsidiana and Quimera Fiscal, schemes that caused more than R$ 1.6 billion in damages to public coffers. The investigations reveal that these fraudulent consulting firms induce good-faith companies into filing Compensation Declarations based on nonexistent, time-barred, or fabricated assets, exposing them to qualified fines and other sanctions.

Justice imposes limit on Revenue Service and validates fiscal accounts

Regional Federal Courts across Brazil are condemning the Federal Revenue Service for illegally preventing the compensation of tax debts with third-party judicial credits, as provided for in Constitutional Amendment No. 113/2021 and Article 100 (§11) of the Federal Constitution. The judicial decisions ordered the Union to create administrative mechanisms to enable the so-called "account matching," removing sanctions and ensuring legal certainty for companies and consulting firms affected by these bureaucratic hurdles.
