Flamengo's board is in negotiations with River Plate for the young striker Joaquín Freitas, 19 years old, who plays for the Argentine club's first team. The information was published by Argentine journalist Germán García Grova, from TyC Sports, and confirmed by the blog. Flamengo wants the player for the first team, despite his young age, and he would arrive amid the departures of Gonzalo Plata and Wallace Yan, both recently sold.
The player has a high release clause, but Flamengo is talking with River to prepare a proposal that satisfies both parties. Freitas is a product of Acassuso's youth academy, another Argentine club, and had been gradually gaining space in the first team under coach Eduardo Coudet, who has just been dismissed.
Freitas's contract with River Plate is valid until the end of 2028. In the last season, the young striker participated in 30 games, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
