Almost 14,000 patients are waiting for surgery in hospitals, according to Açoriano Oriental. This number represents a record of people on the surgical waiting list. Despite the significant increase in these lists, the authorities highlighted that there was an overall healthcare increase, with the performance of more surgeries, more consultations and more examinations.
