A Chilean line would have caused the accident that killed a free flight practitioner on Friday afternoon in São Conrado, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The São Conrado Free Flight Club informed that there were kites with cerol or Chilean line in the flight area, and that it has images of the kite responsible for the accident.

The victim was identified as colonel Álvaro Roberto Cruz Ferreira Lima, 63 years old, who was a member of the São Conrado Free Flight Club. The Fire Department was called at 1:53 PM to respond to the occurrence at São Conrado Beach.

Álvaro received first aid at the scene and was taken in serious condition to Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital, in Gávea, but did not survive the injuries. The Club is providing support to the family and highlighted the military officer's career.

The Club informed that it is taking care of removing the lines that remained at the accident site. The material will also be sent to the responsible authorities to help in the investigation of the case.
