Cenipa, the FAB agency responsible for aviation accident investigations, sent an investigator to the United States to participate in the inquiry over the approximation between the presidential helicopter carrying Donald Trump and an aircraft manufactured by Embraer. The incident occurred earlier this month, in the vicinity of Ronald Reagan Airport in Washington.
According to the American preliminary report, there was a communication failure between the presidential flight team and the control tower. This failure contributed to the two aircraft taking off practically at the same time, resulting in the dangerous approximation.
The American agency responsible for the investigation notified Cenipa of the occurrence last Sunday. The Brazilian representative will participate in the work as the Accredited Representative of Brazil, following the established international protocols.
According to the rules of the Chicago Convention, the investigation is conducted by the country where the event occurred, in this case the United States. The Brazilian participation takes place within the scope of international cooperation between aviation authorities.
