The Spanish Government has drastically increased funding for humanitarian aid in Ceuta, going from six to 44.51 million euros. This decision comes as a response to the migratory crisis that affected the Spanish city in North Africa.
The additional funding comes from European Union funds, demonstrating European commitment to supporting Spain in managing this emergency. The Spanish Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration was responsible for announcing this decision on Friday.
The exponential increase of almost seven times in the allocated value aims to significantly strengthen the humanitarian response capacity in Ceuta, which has been facing intense migratory pressure. This crisis placed the city in an emergency situation that required substantially greater resources.
With this reinforced funding, the Spanish authorities intend to improve the reception conditions and assistance to migrants arriving in Ceuta, as well as strengthen the necessary infrastructure to deal with future migratory flows.
