In Vila do Conde, Sporting thrashed Rio Ave four nil in the first half, thus taking the provisional lead of the Portuguese football league.
The lions opened the scoring early, with a goal by Flavio Goncalves at five minutes of play, establishing control of the match from the start.
The away team extended their lead through Geny Catamo, who scored at 19 minutes, and Suarez, author of a brace at 26 and 37 minutes, consolidating a comfortable advantage before half-time.
With this emphatic victory, Sporting moved to first place in the league standings, at least provisionally, depending on the results of other clubs.
