The Liberal Party (PL) transferred R$ 17.788 million to Douglas Ruas' campaign for governor of Rio de Janeiro, practically reaching the maximum allowed electoral spending limit. According to data from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), the party made two payments via Pix to the candidate on August 24: one of R$ 8.788 million and another of R$ 9 million. Ruas also contributed R$ 50 thousand from his own pocket, bringing total revenue to the maximum allowed limit.

The article mentions that electoral time in Rio began with current mayor Eduardo Paes and Douglas Ruas trying to associate their rivals with old political allies. The strategy aims to link adversaries to figures such as Sérgio Cabral. Other PL politicians are also actively participating in the campaign.

Ruas' campaign has been touring mainly neighborhoods in the North and West zones of the state capital. The events are marked by the presence of many canvassers and feature at least two electric trios: one for the candidate, the vice-presidential candidate Fernanda Louback, and party leaders such as Carlos Portinho, who is running for Senate re-election, and Carlos Jordy, who is also seeking a seat in the National Congress.
