Garotinho reacts to TRE-RJ decision blocking campaign funds and electoral airtime and talks about 'rotten institutions'

Rio governor candidate Anthony Garotinho (Republicanos) criticized on Friday the decision by the Rio de Janeiro Regional Electoral Court (TRE-RJ) that limited his campaign's activities. The former occupant of Guanabara Palace stated that the measure is a consequence of the "rotting" of institutions.

On Thursday, TRE-RJ decided, on a preliminary basis, to suspend transfers from the Party Fund and the Special Campaign Financing Fund to the former governor's candidacy. The decision also prevents, for now, his participation in radio and television debates and the use of free electoral airtime.

Garotinho declared that Rio faces serious problems involving corruption and the police, and that when a candidate appears who wants to confront this situation, they want to remove him from the race.
