United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres today marked the "sad milestone of six months" of the war between the United States and Iran. The statement was made through his spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, during the daily press briefing in New York.
Dujarric reiterated that the only solution to the conflict is a diplomatic solution, calling on both parties to engage in meaningful negotiations. The spokesperson urged both the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran to abandon the military path.
The call for diplomacy comes at a time when the conflict between the two nations completes six months, representing a moment of reflection on the humanitarian and geopolitical impact of the war.
