The Sesc Literature Prize announced the winners of the 2026 edition. In the romance category, the winning book was "A vontade das coisas mortas" ("The Will of Dead Things"), by Mariana do Nascimento Ramos, from the Federal District. In the short story category, the prize went to "A replicação do sangue" ("The Replication of Blood"), by Anacã Agra, from Paraíba. And in the poetry category, the winner was "Geografia do desconforto" ("Geography of Discomfort"), by Guilherme de Miranda Ramos, from Alagoas.
This year, the prize reached a historic record of registrations, with 2,969 works received. Of this total, 1,203 were poetry, 960 were novels and 806 were short story books. The works were evaluated by specialists invited for each of the categories.
The Sesc Literature Prize was created to encourage new talents in national literature. The contest is focused exclusively on unpublished authors, meaning writers who have never had books published in the category for which they are competing.
The winners will have their books published by Editora Senac Rio and will receive a cash prize of R$ 30 thousand. Additionally, the authors will participate in a program to promote their works.
