Nepal monitors two glaciers after collapse that caused floods in the country

Nepal's meteorological authorities began monitoring two glaciers near the one where a block collapsed on Wednesday, causing the flood that left hundreds dead and more than a thousand missing. Monitoring was intensified after received images showed the presence of possible cracks in the glaciers.

However, authorities highlight that the fissures do not necessarily mean a new collapse is about to occur. According to them, the cracks may have existed for some time. A senior official from Nepal's Department of Hydrology and Meteorology told the British network BBC that, given what happened to the nearby glacier, they are trying to monitor the glaciers as much as possible.
