Hospitality workers carried out today an action of struggle and protest in Figueira da Foz, on the coast of the district of Coimbra. The professionals demand better salary and working conditions, with the slogan of the demonstration being "I earn the minimum wage." The action comes following a movement of contestation that has been gaining strength in the hotel sector in Portugal.
The workers gathered in the streets of the coastal city to demonstrate their discontent with the working conditions they currently face. This mobilization fits within a broader context of labor claims in the tourism and hospitality sector, which has been affected by difficulties in hiring and retaining workers.
