The president of the United States, Donald Trump, presented on Friday the Congressional Space Medal of Honor to the four astronauts of the Artemis II mission. The ceremony recognized the historic achievement of these professionals who, in April, completed the first crewed flyby of the Moon in over 50 years.

The four astronauts were selected by NASA for the mission, which marked humanity's return to crewed lunar flights since the Apollo program. Artemis II represented a fundamental step in the Artemis program, which aims to establish a sustainable presence on the Moon.

Trump, during the ceremony, highlighted the importance of the mission for American space exploration. The Congressional Space Medal of Honor is one of the most prestigious distinctions in the United States space field, awarded for exceptional achievements.

This mission paved the way for future lunar expeditions, including plans to bring the first woman and the next man to the lunar surface. The Artemis program continues advancing with the goal of preparing the way for human missions to Mars.
