Russia conducted a missile test from the Plesetsk base, in the north of the country. The projectile traveled a distance of 6,000 kilometers during the launch.
Moscow informed the United States of the test more than 24 hours in advance, in a gesture that sought to demonstrate transparency in communication between the two powers.
A CIA delegation traveled to Moscow during this week, at a time of growing tension between Russia and the West.
Russian authorities admitted that peace is "stalled," acknowledging the diplomatic difficulties that have marked recent international relations.
