Germany: Germanwings case trial against the State begins

The trial of the Germanwings case against the German State has begun. Thirty relatives of the victims are demanding compensation from the German State.

The relatives allege that co-pilot Andreas Lubitz's fitness to fly was not properly assessed. This is the central basis of their complaint against the German authorities.

The case is related to the tragedy of March 2015, when the Germanwings flight was deliberately crashed by the co-pilot in the French Alps, resulting in the death of all 150 people on board.

Leiria has already analyzed 10,807 applications for support to recover houses damaged by bad weather

The municipality of Leiria announced the completion of the analysis of 10,807 applications for support to recover homes damaged by storm Kristin, totaling 69.7 million euros. Seven months after the storm passed, 10,735 requests have already been processed by CCDR Centro, with 7,694 payments made and 310 approvals pending, while 2,731 applications were rejected. Of the 37.3 million already paid, 39.5 million have been validated by the local authority, which invested 813 thousand euros in the operation. Leiria accounts for 30% of national applications, with 70 municipal workers and 107 external technicians involved, 6,070 inspections carried out, and 4,378 in-person attendances completed.
