Fire in housing leaves four displaced in Elvas

A family of four was displaced today following a fire in their home in Elvas, in the Portalegre district. The alert for the fire was given at 07:16 and, according to the PSP, there are no reports of injuries.

When the fire brigade arrived at the scene of the fire, on Rua dos Fagundes, no one was found in the house, which was left uninhabitable.

The four people, a couple and two children, were temporarily rehoused through the Municipal Civil Protection Service. Seventeen operatives from the Elvas fire brigade and PSP were mobilized to the scene, supported by six vehicles.

Uma família de quatro pessoas ficou hoje desalojada na sequência de um incêndio na sua habitação em Elvas, no distrito de Portalegre, disse à agência Lusa fonte da PSP.

Fonte do Comando Sub-Regional de Emergência e Proteção Civil do Alto Alentejo indicou que o alerta para o incêndio foi dado às 07:16 e não há registo de feridos.

Quando os bombeiros chegaram ao local do incêndio, na Rua dos Fagundes, não se encontrava ninguém na casa, que ficou sem condições de habitabilidade, precisou a fonte da Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP).

As quatro pessoas, um casal e dois filhos, foram realojadas temporariamente através do Serviço Municipal de Proteção Civil, adiantou a fonte da polícia.

Foram mobilizados para o local 17 operacionais dos bombeiros de Elvas e da PSP, apoiados por seis veículos.

Speed, illegal races and accidents: Cascais residents launch petition for safety on the Marginal

Residents of the Bairro Almirante Nunes da Mata neighborhood, in Cascais, launched a petition for safety on Avenida Marginal, which connects Lisbon to Cascais, already with more than 1,700 signatures in two weeks. The residents demand greater police enforcement, installation of speed cameras and heavier fines due to excessive speed, illegal races, noise and successive accidents, including fatal ones, problems that have been dragging on for years.
