Al Ittihad, a club from Saudi Arabia, abandoned the signing of Pedro Gonçalves, the Portuguese international from Sporting. The Portuguese forward had ceased to be a priority for the Saudi club.
The club turned their interest to Ritsu Doan, a Japanese winger who plays for Groningen, in the Netherlands. The Japanese player will be the choice to replace Moussa Diaby, who left Al Ittihad.
The change in plans happened after Sporting refused a first offer from Al Ittihad for the Portuguese player. The Saudi club thus decided not to insist on the negotiation and to move on to other priorities.
With Doan's signing confirmed, Pedro Gonçalves has no possibility of a transfer to Saudi football this transfer window. The 26-year-old forward thus remains with the Lions for the upcoming season.
