A diamond necklace worth 3.7 million euros was stolen from a museum in Vienna, Austria. The platinum jewelry, adorned with 673 diamonds, was on public display as part of a temporary exhibition by French jewelers Van Cleef & Arpels.
The necklace belonged to Egyptian Queen Nazli Sabri, who was the wife of the Egyptian sultan and mother of the last king, Farouk. This historic piece represented one of the highlights of the prestigious French maison's exhibition.
The heist was carried out by a pair of robbers who managed to flee the scene on foot. So far, the Austrian authorities have been unable to locate the fugitives, who remain at large.
Vienna police are investigating the theft and analyzing footage from the museum's surveillance cameras to identify the perpetrators and recover the valuable piece.
