GNR issued an alert this Friday about the increase in so-called "false accidents," a fraudulent scheme in which scammers simulate traffic accidents to demand money from victims. The method has become increasingly sophisticated.
The scheme has already caused losses exceeding 72,000 euros in the first six months of 2026. This figure is particularly concerning because it is very close to the 77,480 euros recorded throughout the previous year, which suggests a significant worsening of the situation.
GNR issued this alert to warn drivers to be vigilant and avoid falling for this type of scam. The authorities recommend caution to all motorists who may be approached in these situations.
