USA: Warsh warns of inflation and dismisses future Fed guidance

Euronews Portugal28 August 2026 at 16:18

Kevin Warsh, president of the Federal Reserve of the United States, used his speech at the Jackson Hole conference to convey a cautious message about US monetary policy.

Warsh warned that current credit conditions are not restrictive enough and that underlying inflation has not shown significant improvement, indicating that inflationary problems persist.

These statements reinforce the scenario of the Fed maintaining or potentially raising interest rates, at a time when the monetary institution seeks to contain inflationary pressure.

The president of the Federal Reserve also stepped back from any future guidance, suggesting that the Fed will maintain flexibility in its decisions without committing to predetermined paths.

Private label is no longer exclusive to large retail chains

Private labels, which already represent a significant share of sales in European retail, are expanding in Brazil and are no longer exclusive to large retail chains. Medium-sized companies have started developing exclusive products directly with Chinese manufacturers, creating a complete brand process that includes technical specifications, packaging, and visual identity. This change is occurring amid intense price competition on major marketplaces, where product differentiation has become essential for those who do not want to compete solely on price. Data from NielsenIQ shows that nearly 70% of Brazilians consider private labels a good alternative to traditional brands, and 72% associate them with good value for money.
