Beach Tennis: Afonso D'Orey conquers title at J100 in Espinho

Afonso D'Orey and Italian Nicolas De Sienna were crowned champions of the ITF BT J100 in Espinho, defeating in the final the Portuguese-Spanish duo formed by Lourenço Miranda and Nestor Sanchez, with scores of 6-1 and 7-6 (7/2).

The Portuguese-Italian duo reached the final after finishing unbeaten in the group stage in Group A, where they accumulated two victories: against Marco Yamin and Ryan Russo, and against Breno Oliveira and Tony Oliveira.

In Group B, Lourenço Miranda and Nestor Sanchez followed a similar path, beating David Luz and Lucas Luz and Diego Costa and Gonçalo Carvalho, which allowed them to reach the final.

In the final, D'Orey and De Sienna dominated the first set 6-1. The second set was more balanced and was decided in the tie-break, with the Portuguese-Italian duo prevailing 7-6 (7/2), closing the competition undefeated. In the women's event of the same tournament, Leonor Leitão and Carlota Loureiro finished in third place.

A dupla luso-italiana chegou ao encontro decisivo depois de terminar invicta a fase de grupos. Inseridos no Grupo A, Afonso D’Orey e Nicolas De Sienna somaram duas vitórias, diante das duplas formadas por Marco Yamin e Ryan Russo e por Breno Oliveira e Tony Oliveira, garantindo assim o primeiro lugar e o acesso à final.

No Grupo B, Lourenço Miranda e Nestor Sanchez seguiram um percurso semelhante. O português e o espanhol levaram a melhor sobre David Luz e Lucas Luz e sobre Diego Costa e Gonçalo Carvalho, resultados que lhes permitiram disputar o título.

Na final, D’Orey e De Sienna entraram mais fortes e dominaram o primeiro set, vencendo por 6-1. A resposta de Lourenço Miranda e Nestor Sanchez surgiu no segundo parcial, mais equilibrado e decidido apenas no tie-break. Afonso D’Orey e Nicolas De Sienna acabaram por confirmar o triunfo, com 7-6 (7/2), fechando a competição sem derrotas.

Na prova feminina do ITF BT J100 de Espinho, Leonor Leitão e Carlota Loureiro terminaram na terceira posição.
