Europe completed its new weather constellation with the launch of MTG-I2, carried out from French Guiana via the Ariane 6 rocket. This launch marks the completion of the Meteosat Third Generation satellite trio.
The now operational system enables the acquisition of high-resolution images every 2.5 minutes, representing a significant improvement over previous generations of weather satellites.
This enhanced capability contributes to more accurate weather forecasting and better early warning of extreme weather events, thereby strengthening monitoring and emergency response services for climate events in Europe.
