Oyo Rukidi IV, the traditional king of Tooro in western Uganda, died at the age of 34, as announced by the kingdom's prime minister, Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki. Considered by his supporters as "the youngest king in the world," he was in the United States and had been hospitalized in critical condition. According to sources close to the family, he was being treated for cancer. The prime minister described the death as "an immeasurable loss for the royal family, the people of Tooro, and Uganda."

Tooro, also called Toro, is located in the western region of Uganda, near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. The kingdom is one of five recognized symbolically by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni. These monarchies do not hold formal political power, but they maintain cultural and political influence in the country.

Oyo Rukidi IV succeeded his father in 1995, when he was just 3 years old, after his father's death from a heart attack. Since then, he grew up and began exercising full powers as king of Tooro.
