ANMP demands funding to complete PRR works

The National Association of Portuguese Municipalities (ANMP) considers it "indispensable" to guarantee funding for the completion of municipal investments that remain under execution under the Recovery and Resilience Programme (PRR), despite the programme's closure announced by the Government. ANMP's position was conveyed through a statement released from Coimbra.

ANMP argues that municipalities need to see the completion of works and investments that are still underway, even after the formal closure of the community programme. This demand arises in a context where several local authorities have pending projects that depend on PRR funding to be completed.

The association's statement, issued on Friday, 28 August, reinforces the need for dialogue between ANMP and the Government to find solutions that allow municipalities to fulfil the commitments made under their PRR projects. The association represents the interests of hundreds of Portuguese municipalities that have investments at different stages of execution.

The Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Manuel Castro Almeida, stated on TVI's National Journal that the Government did not raise taxes in the two budgets presented and that it will not do so this time either.
