The Colosseum of Rome was declared a "red zone" by the city hall. The measure was taken at the request of the Roman police.
In addition to the Colosseum, the red zone also covers the Imperial Forums and the Oppian Hill, other important historical areas of the Italian capital.
The restriction will take effect immediately and will last four months, during which special security and control measures will be applied in the region.
