End of the 6x1 schedule: understand what the text says and the transition rule

The constitutional amendment proposal that ends the 6x1 work schedule, one of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's electoral promises, may advance in the Federal Senate during the last focused work period of Congress before the elections, scheduled for next week. The Chamber of Deputies approved the PEC in May, but since then the proposal had not advanced in the Senate.

Congress reduced activities during the electoral campaign period and will have a new focused work week between August 31 and September 4. The Senate plans a vote on the eve of the elections.

The rapporteur of the PEC, Omar Aziz (PSD-AM), presented his text on Thursday and maintained the proposal approved in the Chamber of Deputies, without making any changes. The expectation is that the matter will be voted on in the Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) next week.

The Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Manuel Castro Almeida, stated on TVI's National Journal that the Government did not raise taxes in the two budgets presented and that it will not do so this time either.
