Isaquias Queiroz finished in ninth and last place in the C1 1000m final at the Canoe Sprint World Championship, held in Poznan, Poland, on this Friday, and finished without medals in the competition. The gold was shared between Czech Martin Fuksa, current Olympic champion, and Hungarian Daniel Fejes, due to a tie.

The Brazilian explained in an interview with Sportv that the season has been complicated. He revealed he underwent eye surgery and faced hip problems that prevented him from running. Isaquias also highlighted that he did not compete in last year's World Championship due to a severe flu, marking his return to international competition.

According to the athlete, the race was very difficult from the start because of the strong wind. He stated that the pace in the final is much heavier, with a different approach, since nobody has anything left to lose. Even so, he said he is happy with what he managed to do at the event.

Isaquias will still have another opportunity to pursue medals. He is scheduled to compete on Saturday morning in the C1 500m final, in another chance to represent Brazil at the world championship in Poland.
