The suffocating heat that marked the entire summer continues without letting up in Italy, with maximum temperatures above 44 degrees in the South of the country and on the islands. The fifth heat wave is in full impact and the peak is expected on Friday.
Meteorologists warn that even in September the weather will remain sultry, with no prospects yet of significant relief for the regions most affected by the extreme heat.
In contrast, Northern Italy faces heavy rain, creating an accentuated meteorological division in the country. This split weather situation is due to the different air masses affecting the two halves of the Italian territory.
