IMO calls for "practical solutions" to restore navigation in the Strait of Hormuz

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) called for "practical solutions" to restore navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important maritime routes in the world. The appeal was made amid an escalation of attacks that have affected international traffic in the region.

Since February 28, the IMO confirmed at least 70 attacks on international shipping in the region. The attacks resulted in the death of 19 crew members who were on board commercial ships crossing the area.

The Strait of Hormuz is a crucial strategic passage for global maritime trade, through which a significant portion of the world's oil transport passes. The violence in the region has generated concern among the international community and affected the security of commercial naval operations.
