Susana Moreira Marques was a journalist for many years, an experience she considers fundamental to her current work as an author of literary nonfiction books. In her writing, she prioritizes the everyday stories of ordinary people, in contrast to narratives about great deeds or prominent figures.
Among her works are titles such as "Now and at the Hour of Our Death," "Black Scarves, Straw Hats and Golden Earrings," and the most recent, "Third Floor Without Elevator." Susana believes this territory of literature still has much to explore and develop.
She is currently working on a fiction screenplay for a TV film dedicated to the theme of end of life. This audiovisual piece will be part of RTP's new series titled "Told by Women."
The conversation with Bernardo Mendonça, which gave rise to this article, was conducted in podcast format, where Susana shared more details about her background and writing process.
