President Donald Trump published a map presenting the Strait of Hormuz as a new US territory. The image shows the strategic region under the designation of American territory, in an attempt to assert US control over this crucial waterway.
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the US naval blockade imposed on the Strait of Hormuz remains in effect. The statement reinforces the Trump administration's position that Washington exercises authority over this strategic maritime passage in the Persian Gulf.
Leavitt further stated that the United States controls the Strait of Hormuz "in essence," a declaration that underscores the American pretension to dominate this vital route for world oil transportation. The strait is one of the world's most important waterways, through which a large portion of international maritime traffic passes.
