UNITA's shadow government denounced that Angola has 19,000 trees functioning as classrooms, revealing a dire situation in the education sector. The diagnosis was presented by Raul Tati, prime minister of the shadow government of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola, during a press conference organized by the party.

According to data presented by UNITA, the country needs 2,000 to 8,000 schools to adequately accommodate 4.5 million children and young people who currently lack access to dignified educational infrastructure. This situation represents one of Angola's main structural challenges.

UNITA, as Angola's main opposition party, convened this press conference in preparation for the new 2026/2027 school year, with the aim of raising awareness about the structural problems that have affected the Angolan education system for decades under MPLA governance, which celebrates 50 years in power.
