Free electoral propaganda for the 2026 election began this Friday (28) on radio, marking the official start of the electoral race. In São Paulo, two candidates stood out: Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos), seeking re-election, and former mayor Fernando Haddad (PT).

Tarcísio de Freitas opened his program with a jingle that has been playing at public events since the beginning of the campaign, with lyrics that highlight "construction work everywhere." The governor talked about the end of Cracolândia and improvements in São Paulo's downtown, presenting himself as a manager who wants to "leave a legacy." Notably, the program did not include Senator Flaviano Bolsonaro (PL), his political ally.

Fernando Haddad focused his radio time on his legacies as former Finance and Education Minister. The PT candidate also inserted remarks by President Lula (PT), who made praises of Haddad during the program.

With the longest propaganda time among the candidates, Tarcísio was introduced by two announcers who highlighted his management. Free electoral propaganda will also air on television starting in the coming weeks, when the dispute should intensify even further.
