The Democratic Republic of Congo has launched a vaccination campaign to combat an Ebola outbreak, in an effort to contain the spread of the disease more quickly than in previous outbreaks.
Health professionals and other frontline workers are being prioritized to receive the Ebola vaccine, given the high risk of exposure to which they are subject in fighting the epidemic.
The vaccine used is Ervebo, which was administered during the vaccination campaign now initiated in the African country.
According to the article, this vaccine proved to be effective in previous Ebola outbreaks, although those outbreaks were caused by a different and more common type of the disease.
