The positions in the UEFA ranking continue to be updated before the start of European competitions. This ranking is fundamental to determine how many teams each country can send to the UEFA competitions.

Portugal remains in sixth position in the UEFA ranking. This position allows the country to send five teams to European competitions next season.

The UEFA ranking is calculated based on the results obtained by the teams from each country in European competitions over the last seasons. A higher position in the ranking translates into more available spots for national clubs.

With five Portuguese teams participating in European competitions, the main clubs in Portugal will have the opportunity to represent the country in UEFA competitions during the next sporting season.

Europa League Draw Prohibits Benfica from Visiting Italian Club

UEFA rules for European competition draws will impose limitations on Benfica in the Europa League league phase draw. The Eagles, who qualified by defeating Aarhus, will not be able to face Juventus in the next phase, as they have already met the Italian side in the last two editions of European competitions. The exception to this restriction allows the match to take place only in Lisbon, with Turin excluded. UEFA applies this rule to prevent the same matchups from repeating in three consecutive seasons, subjecting clubs that faced each other in the previous two seasons to specific restrictions during the draw.
