Lula's TV Globo debut showed why he spent the past months avoiding debates and only giving interviews to media outlets aligned with his government. For the first time, the president was genuinely confronted about the suspicions of influence peddling and corruption involving his son, Lulinha, as well as his former chief of staff, Marco Aurélio Santana Ribeiro, aka Marcola, and his former Senate leader, Jaques Wagner, from the PT. During the interview, Lula took a defensive stance when answering questions about these scandals.
