José Carneiro, PS leader, presented a set of proposals to attract investment and professionals to Portugal's Interior. The measures include special medical positions and tax benefits as instruments of positive discrimination for the country's Interior regions.
In the Health sector, the socialist leader proposes a differentiated regime to attract doctors to these areas and argues that Local Health Units (ULS) should have autonomy to proceed with hiring, allowing more flexible management of human resources in these regions.
To Diário de Notícias, Carneiro also committed to defending territorial development contracts, instruments aimed at promoting balanced development of Portuguese territory.
The mayor also advocates for the implementation of a differentiated economic and fiscal policy for the Interior, recognizing the need for specific incentives that promote the settlement of population and economic activity in these regions.
