The Real Madrid sports city in Valdebebas will no longer be urbanistically a plot reserved almost exclusively for football and sports. The rezoning provisionally approved by the Madrid City Council through the modification of the General Plan creates a new order that will allow combining sports facilities, private equipment, and tertiary activities in the same complex.
This urban planning change will allow the club chaired by Florentino Pérez to build a wide variety of facilities that go far beyond sports. Among the authorized projects are offices for technology multinationals, university centers, research centers, universities, hotels, commercial establishments, and even a large auditorium.
The urban transformation plan represents a significant change in the original vocation of the Valdebebas complex, which until now was mainly intended for sports and football-related activities. With the new zoning, Real Madrid will be able to diversify activities in its complex and obtain new sources of income through the authorized tertiary and commercial activities.
