Canada rejected the name change from Lake Ontario to Lake America, an executive order signed by the President of the United States, Donald Trump. Trump's decision aims to change the official designation of the lake in US federal geographic records.
Trump signed the executive order on Thursday at the White House, instructing the Department of the Interior to adopt the name Lake America. The president stated that the change takes effect immediately.
However, Trump granted a 30-day deadline for the official completion of the name change process in American federal systems. The Canadian government immediately expressed its opposition to this unilateral decision.
