Cambridge Analytica scandal: Meta's settlement with American states has a hole the size of New Mexico

Meta reached a settlement of nearly 500 million dollars with 46 U.S. states and two U.S. territories to resolve future claims related to the Cambridge Analytica scandal, which involved the leak of data from tens of millions of Facebook users in 2016. This settlement is part of a larger agreement on social media damages to children. The scandal has already cost the company approximately 6 billion dollars in total, and the payment essentially resolves the legal disputes related to this privacy controversy that shook Facebook after the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
