Uefa 'suspends' boycott threat against FIFA competitions this season

UEFA temporarily suspended the threat of a boycott of FIFA competitions for this season, after the world governing body confirmed in writing the definitive withdrawal of the controversial "FIFA Forward Enterprise" project, which proposed opening the World Cup to private investors. The decision was made following a meeting in Monaco with European member federations, members of the UEFA Executive Committee and European representatives on the FIFA Council. UEFA obtained the two guarantees it had been demanding since July 30 and, after consulting its national associations, agreed to suspend the withdrawal of European teams from FIFA competitions.
The Turkish forward from FC Porto is in the sights of Galatasaray, and his possible departure could accelerate the signing of the Mexican striker from Milan. The Turkish club intends to sign reinforcements for next season and sees the Porto player as a market opportunity.
