Scientists discovered a shark graveyard about 100 million years old in the Western Desert of Egypt, a region that 150 million years ago was a vast tropical sea known as the Abu-Tartur plateau. A new study published in the journal Cretaceous Research revealed traces of ancient aquatic creatures, including prehistoric sharks, that inhabited these waters before the era of the pharaohs. The research sheds new light on the diversity of shark communities that swam in ancient oceans.
