More than 1,400 people are being searched for in Nepal, including three Portuguese citizens, after a disaster that has already caused more than 300 deaths. The death toll is expected to continue rising in the coming hours. Rescue operations are being severely hampered by the destruction of bridges and roads throughout the affected region.
A jury is deciding the fate of Lindsay Clancy, an American mother accused of killing her three children. The central question is whether she acted consciously and calculatingly or whether she suffered a psychotic break at the time of the crime. The jurors have to choose between different degrees of homicide, from involuntary to premeditated murder, which will determine whether Clancy will face a life sentence or be committed to a psychiatric institution for treatment.
A car was partially destroyed by a fire on Thursday night on the A7, in the direction of Fafe–Arco de Baúlhe, when an off-duty firefighter intercepted the burning vehicle and helped extinguish the fire until the firefighters arrived.
PSP was called to the sports holiday camp of the Maia City Council after a suspicious substance was found in the backpack of a participating child. Authorities collected the product for laboratory analysis and are investigating how the substance got into the minor's backpack, in a manner still unknown.
