A Chilean doctor from Chile remotely performed a radical robotic prostatectomy on a patient at the Kidney Hospital, in Goiânia, Goiás, this Tuesday (25), marking the first telesurgery of its kind between the two countries, the first telesurgery prostatectomy in the state and the first telesurgery of the hospital. The procedure used the Toumai robotic surgical system, developed by MicroPort (MedBot), which allowed the oncological urologist Dr. Marcelo Andres Orvieto Sagredo to control the instruments remotely, while a medical team remained with the patient on Brazilian soil.
