Court has not yet decided custody of four-year-old girl who saw brother kill mother

The Court of Cascais decided to postpone the decision regarding the custody of a four-year-old girl who witnessed her mother's death in Algés, Oeiras, perpetrated by her brother. The Portuguese justice system intends to hear the father, currently in preventive detention for domestic violence. Until September, the child remains in the care of a friend of the deceased mother, while the family returns to Brazil disillusioned with the Portuguese authorities and fears another failure in protecting the minor.
